Comeaux Dental Group was thrilled to be chosen by the Noack Foundation to host a Free Dental Day. The event took place at the Comeaux Dental Group location in The Woodlands. The event was co-sponsored by Angel Reach, Interfaith Community Clinic and Henry Schien. Chick-Fil-a of the Woodlands and Magnolia provided lunch and snacks to keep the staff fueled up and ready to give back.

The event was a great success. The Comeaux Dental team was able to complete 25 tooth extractions, 30 fillings and over 50 cleanings. In total Comeaux Dental Group was able to give back over $16,000 in work to The Woodlands, Spring and Montgomery County Communities.

Comeaux Dental Group hosted a Grand Opening celebration for their new office located 2827 Waterbend Cove, Suite 200. The event included tours of the new office, a chance to meet the staff and local food trucks. Children’s events included face painting, a bouncy house, games, prizes and give-aways.

When you have sensitive teeth, eating or drinking anything that’s not at room temperature can cause pain. You might even feel a throbbing sensation when a cold wind blows against your mouth. Tooth sensitivity is a common problem with many possible causes. Before delving into them, it’s important to understand the structure of the tooth.

Tooth Structure and Dental Hypersensitivity 

The inside of each of your teeth contains a material called dentin. The dentin has tiny tubules and nerve endings. Each tooth also has a hard-outer layer of enamel that protects the dentin located inside of the top portion of the tooth. We also refer to this part of the tooth as the crown. A layer of cementum protects the dentin that reaches down into the root portion of each of your teeth. The pain of tooth sensitivity occurs when the protective coating of cementum or enamel wears away from the dentin. Acidic, sticky, cold, or hot foods and beverages are common triggers for pain. 

Most people grind their teeth occasionally, whether they realize it or not. Fortunately, periodic teeth grinding causes no lasting damage to the teeth or jaws. It’s only when the teeth grinding becomes a habit that it also becomes a cause for concern. Medically known as bruxism, chronic grinding of the teeth can lead to long-term oral health complications such as wearing the tooth down to a stump, cracked or fractured teeth, loose teeth, infection, and more. These problems increase the likelihood of major dental interventions such as tooth extraction, root canals, dentures, implants, bridges, and crowns.

Why Do People Grind Their Teeth?

In fact, stress is the top reason that people develop this habit in the first place. It can also develop due to existing problems with your teeth and jaws such as crooked teeth, missing teeth, or a bite that doesn’t fully come together.

Star-Spangled Salute at The Pavilion: July 3, 2018

The holiday festivities begin on July 3 with the Houston Symphony’s Star-Spangled Salute at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The concert features a selection of patriotic favorites, American classics, sing-alongs and, of course, Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” complete with cannons from atop the hill. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and admission is FREE. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. 

43rd Annual 4th of July Parade in The Woodlands: July 4, 2018

Get up early on July 4th, put on your red, white and blue to get a prime spot for the parade! The 43rd Annual 4th of July Parade in The Woodlands will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the singing of the National Anthem from the balcony in Market Street and Town Green Park. This year's theme is “United We Stand,” and more than 20,000 spectators are expected to line the streets in Town Center to watch over 150 entries, marching bands and federal, state and local dignitaries through the 1.3-mile parade route. The parade begins and ends at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, and some roads in the area will be closed during the event. Street performers will entertain parade-goers, and three additional DJ/announcer booths are placed around the parade route. Up to 11 community parade entry judges rate the entries to culminate with 12 parade entry awards. The parade and surrounding activities will take place rain or shine.

We are expanding our 2,500-square-foot office at 8008 Ashlane Way, Ste. 150, The Woodlands to a 4,300-square-foot space. In the past few decades, the practice of dentistry, on a parallel with other professional fields, has seen changes in marketing products and services to patients. More than ever, the public may come across advertising for discount specials.

When prospective new patients visit the dental firm for their special offers, they might leave with treatment plans filled with pricey recommendations. Sometimes, these recommended treatments are unnecessary.

Some risk factors for developing bad breath are controllable, such as smoking and choosing to eat certain foods. Others, such as developing certain diseases, may be outside of your immediate control. Typical reasons for this common oral health condition include:

Allergies: Several medications used to treat allergies can cause dry mouth, a problem commonly associated with bad breath. Post-nasal drip and sinus congestion caused by allergies can also contribute to the problem.

When you brush or floss, do your gums bleed? Or do you have bad breath or gums that are swollen, tender or red? If so, these are symptoms of gum disease, which is also called periodontal disease.

When it’s not treated, gum disease leads to losing teeth and other serious health issues. A recent study found that men with periodontal disease have a 14% higher chance of getting cancer when compared to those without this condition.
